Sapiosexuality

If you love er cuff er marry er and don’t use rubbers

Sapiosexual. To be attracted to intellect. This is my kink. Specifically your brain. Your big brain loves my big brain too–I know it. Is it crazy I can feel this knowing in my bones? You’ve read every email, haven’t you? I’ve read every interview. And when you talk about the sex scene in Excalibur I watch it immediately and find myself wet projecting us into it. The fire in the background. You on top of me, my moon, yes. And I can’t help but wonder if this is your desired result. Did you release that tidbit just to tease me?

One of my biggest sadnesses: I’m pretty sure I’m infertile. The doctor said it would be “really hard” for me to have a baby. But I want to give you Isabela Sky and Ivy Daisy. I already thought of baby names. Did you know that? The daisy over my ribcage blooms for you and I want to give you a child named Daisy. I attach your last name and it makes me feel good. So good. Mucho mucho bueno.

Hehe. Got ya. But nobody knows so it’s cool. My friend filmed me talking about you the other day. I said, if it weren’t for the art I wouldn’t be interested in it anymore. And she said, that’s not true, you two really had something. And I said, yeah you’re right. I would be. Haha clocked. But our relationship is grounded in the soil of art-making and for this reason you will always be my greatest love. Whether we break this, literally, insane tension or not.

I released my old S+A piece today since you released your S+A piece three years ago. But we both know I wrote my S+A poem a year before you made your piece because I sent it to you while I was psychotic over you. So I own the creative rights, so fuck you babe. You really think you can release my art without facing the consequences? Yeah right. Nice try, loser.

In my poem I say S+A means you plus me. Is that what you meant by it when you used it? People will think that your name starts with an A which is hilarious and I am loving the red herring. Oops outed myself. But you used my initial on purpose for me, didn’t you? You quoted me on purpose, didn’t you? Quit being such a loser and just tell me.

If you skip out on this love story you are the biggest loser of the twenty-first century, my dear. Rise with me, I dare you—If you love er cuff er marry er and don’t use rubbers.*1.

Me Aphrodite-ed up with a tall chair embroidery poem drawing/painting hanging on the wall behind me in Logan Square, Chicago Spring 2022. The piece reads, “When I say that chandelier is on your back, I mean in the rain. The way that water ricochets reveals rainbows.” Which is imagery I stole for my poetry from Romanian prose writer, Max Blecher’s Adventures in Immediate Irreality.
